The Green Agenda

The environment is everyone’s problem. Whilst progress has been made during the last term of Government, there is more that can be done with practical solutions and real world impact, rather than just greenwashing. Guernsey should be a shining beacon to the rest of the world on alternative modes of transport and renewable energy production. Not only should consumer micro-generation be actively encouraged and supported, the Island is uniquely placed to take advantage of tidal, wind and solar energy. The link to France has to be paid for and GEL want to protect unit prices, but what about the other way, what if Guernsey could be a net contributor to France’s electricity grid and pay for the costs of the link that way. Guernsey needs to have a back up in case the link(s) to France are both lost; and in any case the Islands should be able to stand on their own feet to avoid the situation where France can dictate prices.
